Next year I’ll be approaching 25 years of blogging, and for the first time ever I made the switch to commercial hosting for the blog. My previous server was getting old, requiring a major Debian update or two. The outdated PHP version made hosting WordPress more and more difficult.
So, after much contemplation (a.k.a. procrastination), here it is, the new maol.ch hosted by Hosttech. Moving was painless, so far, including using Cloudflare for DNS and caching and Plesk on Hosttech. Let me know if there are any issues from anywhere in the world!
And yes, new design as well. I like how the Matrioska theme is overlapping featured images (Matryoshka effect) and will be playing with feature images a bit more, going forward.
Finally, I also moved my company website ACK Consulting Knowledge to Ghost. Playing with Ghost’s newsletter features and more generally figuring out if Ghost could replace WordPress for me. Just in case.
