Another thing I’ve spent my time on is a kernel patch for custom boot logos. You can download it here for 2.4.17. It allows you to place any ppm image in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/boot_logo.ppm and the image will be compiled into the kernel. Of course this will enlarge your kernel by quite some bytes 😉
